Specialty Mechanical Construction for Critical and Complex Applications

Some mechanical systems can’t tolerate anything less than certified, specialized installation. Dual Temp’s specialty project teams deliver medical gas systems, cleanroom HVAC, MRI cooling, acid waste piping, VRF systems, and laboratory exhaust installations — built by crews who hold the specific certifications these applications demand.

Specialty Systems We Build

Certified Construction for Healthcare, Laboratory, and High-Performance Environments

Specialty mechanical systems serve environments where failure isn’t an option — operating rooms, laboratories, pharmaceutical production, and critical imaging suites. These installations require specific certifications, specialized materials, rigorous testing protocols, and crews who understand the regulatory landscape governing each system type.

Medical Gas Systems — Our NFPA 99-certified installers build oxygen, medical air, vacuum, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, and waste anesthetic gas disposal (WAGD) systems for hospitals, surgical centers, dental facilities, and veterinary clinics. Every installation includes full-system testing, purging, and certification per NFPA 99 and applicable state requirements. Medical gas piping is a scope that cannot be delegated to a general plumber or pipefitter — it requires documented qualification that our teams maintain.

Cleanroom HVAC — Pharmaceutical, biotech, and semiconductor facilities require precision air handling with HEPA filtration, controlled pressurization, temperature and humidity management, and validated airflow patterns. Our HVAC teams build cleanroom mechanical systems to the specified ISO classification, working with validation teams to ensure the installed system meets performance requirements at commissioning.

MRI Cooling — MRI suites require specialized chilled water systems to protect sensitive imaging equipment from overheating. Our crews install dedicated cooling loops, supplemental condensing units, and cryogen vent piping designed to the equipment manufacturer’s specifications — systems where incorrect installation can damage millions of dollars in imaging equipment.

Acid Waste & Neutralization — Laboratory acid waste systems require corrosion-resistant piping materials (PVDF, polypropylene, borosilicate glass) and properly sized neutralization tanks to ensure discharge meets municipal sewer requirements. Our plumbing team installs these systems with the material expertise and testing protocols the application demands.

VRF Systems — Variable Refrigerant Flow installations require precise refrigerant line sizing, proper brazing techniques, nitrogen purge protocols, and manufacturer-specific commissioning procedures. Our pipefitters and HVAC technicians are trained and experienced in VRF installation for Mitsubishi, Daikin, and other major VRF manufacturers.

Why Owners Trust Us With Specialty Scopes

Certified Crews for Systems That Can't Afford Mistakes

Certifications We Hold, Not Certifications We Hire

NFPA medical gas certification, 6G pipe welding, EPA refrigerant handling — these are qualifications our in-house crews carry permanently, not credentials we bring in on a project-by-project basis through temporary labor. When the project demands certified installers, they’re already on our payroll.

Specialty Systems Integrated With the Full Mechanical Scope

Medical gas doesn’t exist in isolation — it’s installed alongside HVAC, plumbing, and controls in the same building. Because Dual Temp self-performs all mechanical trades, our specialty installers coordinate directly with our HVAC and plumbing crews. No separate subcontractor coordination, no schedule gaps, no trade conflicts in the ceiling.

Testing and Documentation Built Into the Process

Specialty systems require more rigorous testing and documentation than standard mechanical work — pressure testing, purge certifications, flow verification, and regulatory compliance documentation. Our teams build these testing requirements into the installation schedule from the start, not as an afterthought at closeout.

Healthcare Experience Across System Types

Healthcare projects rarely involve just one specialty system. A hospital may require medical gas, cleanroom HVAC, MRI cooling, and acid waste — all on the same project. Our ability to self-perform all of these under one contract simplifies procurement, reduces coordination risk, and gives the owner a single point of accountability for every specialty mechanical scope.
