The Error Code Is the Starting Point, Not the Diagnosis
The same VRF fault code has different root causes depending on system configuration, ambient conditions, and piping layout. Errors appearing on multiple indoor units at once point to a communication bus fault or an outdoor unit protective shutdown cascading downstream, not to the indoor units themselves. A single zone blowing room-temperature air while every other zone performs points to the branch selector box serving that circuit, or to the indoor unit’s expansion valve. Gradual capacity decline with a low-pressure fault means a leak somewhere across a refrigerant network with far more joints than a conventional split system, and VRF charge is calculated to the foot of pipe, so even a small loss registers.
Our technicians start at the outdoor unit main PCB, read the primary fault, verify communication bus continuity, and confirm inverter compressor operation before touching an indoor unit. Repairs follow manufacturer protocols for brazing, evacuation, charge calculation, and commissioning, which is what keeps warranties intact.

Heat Pump VRF Systems
Two-pipe systems providing heating or cooling to all zones simultaneously in one mode. Service work covers inverter compressor performance, outdoor unit fan and heat exchanger condition, defrost operation, and refrigerant charge verification against the system’s calculated pipe length. Capacity complaints across every zone almost always originate at the outdoor unit.
Heat Recovery VRF & Branch Selector Boxes
Three-pipe systems moving heat from zones in cooling to zones in heating through branch selector boxes. The BSB solenoid valves that route refrigerant are a frequent failure point, and a stuck valve or a wiring fault isolates a single zone while the rest of the building runs normally. We test solenoid operation and measure superheat and subcooling at the affected indoor unit to determine whether the fault is at the box, the line set, or the unit.
Indoor Units, Controllers & Communication Networks
Cassettes, ducted units, wall mounts, central controllers, and the communication bus tying them together. Faults here include drifted return air sensors, fouled blower wheels, condensate pump failures, controller lockouts, and bus wiring damaged during unrelated construction work. We verify network continuity and addressing before replacing any board.
