Most RTU Failures Have Three Likely Causes
A unit that runs but will not cool is usually a compressor circuit problem, a low refrigerant charge, or an economizer stuck full open flooding the unit with hot outdoor air. A bang at heating ignition is delayed ignition from a dirty igniter, a weak flame sensor signal, or a gas pressure issue, and repeated delayed ignition eventually cracks a heat exchanger, so it gets addressed on the first visit. Energy bills that climb while the unit seems to run normally point to a miscalibrated economizer or dirty coils quietly extending compressor runtime.
Our technicians test the compressor circuit, measure refrigerant pressures, check flame sensor microamp output, and run the economizer through its full range on every call. Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, ignition components, and belts are carried on the truck, so the majority of RTU failures are resolved in a single visit.

We verify each refrigerant circuit independently, test staging response against load, and confirm drive output before condemning any major component.
Economizers, Gas Heat Sections & Unit Controls

Stuck dampers, failed actuators, drifted outdoor air and enthalpy sensors, and unit controllers running an incorrect sequence produce problems that never show up as a fault code. We test economizer operation across its full range, verify sensor accuracy, inspect heat exchangers, and confirm the control sequence matches how the building actually needs to run.
